After placing Top 10 in the nation for the second year in a row in 2010, we are excited to work on this year's canoe with your help! No experience necessary! Concrete Canoe is a nationally run competition that allows the top schools from all over the country build and race 20 foot canoes against each other. Canoe involves many different aspects from construction experience, management skills, concrete mix design, artistic ability, canoe paddling, artistic design, graphic design and technical writing skills. If you are interested in joining the Concrete Canoe Team, please contact The ASCE Email, with a message about wanting to join the Canoe Team, and it will be passed on.

Pour Day 2013

This year, Pour Day  was Saturday, January 26th. A lot of students, faculty, alumni, and friends came to help out to help put the canoe together. The day was a big success and the canoe is now curing. It had to cure for a period of 21 days before it could be taken out of its mold.

This year's team placed 10th overall in the nation. We also received 4th overall for final product. Final product includes the boats aesthetics, display table and stands. Also our coed sprint team placed 10th overall in the races. The coed sprint team consisted of Alex Maistros, Amanda Bossart, Theresa Teras, and Cameron Carris. This is the second year in a row that the University's Concrete Canoe team has placed top 10 overall at nationals.

We did better than we have for years by winning Regionals this year at the University of Kentucky. Then, we went to to California Polytechnic Institute State University to compete at Nationals for the third time ever. The competition judges multiple categories before coming up with overall results. We got 4th place for the design paper, 11th place for our presentation, 6th place for the final product, and different places for the different races.
