About Us

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote and advance the study of polymer engineering in the areas of polymer synthesis, processing, rheology, morphology, adhesion, structural development, and quality control at the University of Akron. PESO/SPE as a student organization should represent the interests of all polymer engineering students at the University of Akron.

PESO/SPE also supports the interaction of academic and industrial researchers in the field of polymer engineering through company tours and invited of industrial lecturers to the University of Akron. PESO/SPE cooperates with local polymer engineering organizations such as the Akron Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and the Akron Section of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society in their efforts to advance knowledge and education in polymer engineering.

An objective of PESO/SPE is the participation of its members at conferences of established polymer engineering organizations (e.g. Society of Plastics Engineers, Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society, Polymer Processing Society, Society of Physical Chemistry, and Society of Rheology). PESO/SPE should represent the University of Akron at these meetings. An additional objective of PESO/SPE is to advance social ties among members of the Department of Polymer Engineering by organizing social activities (e.g. picnics, bowling nights, sports activities, etc.).
